With an unstable mother and a father she never knew Norma Jeane grew up with fosterfamily's and in orphanages.

When she was only 14 days old her mother brought her to the Bolender family.

Norma Jeane stayed there until she was 7 years old.

Then her mother came back and decided that she now was stable enough to take care for her little daughter.

They went to live in a house her mother shared with an english family.

It seemed to work out for a while but after a few months her mother got a nervous breakdown and was hospitalized and finally confided into a mental institution.

Now Norma Jeane went to live with Grace Mc Kee, a good friend of Gladys.

But that wasn't going to last for a long time because Grace was going to marry and it was to expensive to take Norma Jeane with her.

So when Norma Jeane was just 9 years old Grace send her to an orphanage where she stayed until she had reached the age of 12.

Then Grace came back again and Norma Jeane went there to live there the next 4 years.

She was very happy at the time with aunt Grace.

At that time Norma Jeane was a big fan of Jean Harlow and grace kept telling Norma Jeane that one day Norma Jeane would be very famous just like Jean Harlow and that everyone would love and admire her.

But when Norma Jeane was 16 years old Graces husband was transferred to the East Coast and, again, because of the expenses it was not possible to take Norma Jeane along so they had two choices, or Norma Jeane had to go back to the orphanage and stay there until she was an adult, or they had to find a suitable husband for the teenager.

They decided to go for the last choice.

And finally on June 19 1942 Norma Jeane wed her 21 years old neighbour James E Dougherty.

Altough it wasn't a very glamorous wedding the young couple seemed happy together.

James decided to join the merchant marines and was sent to the South Pacific.

At the same time Norma Jeane decided to join the Radio Plane Munitions Factory where she met photographer David Conover, who was there to shoot some pictures of woman who were contributing the war effort.

When he saw Norma Jeane he decided she was going to be his model and shot the first pictures of her.

When he saw the pictures he said to her:"you belong on the cover of a magazine not in a factory.

And in 1945 he sent his pictures to Emeline Snively, head of the Blue Book Modeling Agency.

In that same year Norma Jeane met another photographer, Andre De Dienes, and she went on a trip with him.

In 1946 because of some pressure Norma Jeane started to change some things in her life, first of all she asked for a divorce, then she dyed her hair from dark to blonde, then she signed her first contract with 20th century fox and finally in august 1946 Norma Jeane changed her name into Marilyn Monroe.

In the beginning of her carreer Marilyn was mostly cut out of the movies, the fox people tought she was not photogenic, but that changed in 1953 when she played a disturbed woman who had plans to kill her husband in Niagara she then became a real star.

In that same year she met baseballplayer Joe Dimaggio.

They married on January 14 1954 and divorced 9 months later because of so called carreer conflicts.

That same year, after some bad reviews on There's no business like showbusiness, Marilyn moved to New York to start her own moviecompagny; Marilyn Monroe Productions.

But in 1956 after allmost 2 years in new york Marilyn decided to go back to L.A. to make a new movie called Busstop and to marry again, this time with playwright Arthur Miller.

As far as we know Marilyn allways wanted to have children but after a few misscarriages Marilyn started to think she could never have children and started to drink alcohole and use drugs.

That wasn't very good for her allready difficult mariage.

And so, after 4 years of marriage, Marilyn divorced again.

And again Marilyn was alone but she was also a very strong woman and n 1962 after 2 years of absence Marilyn started to work on another movie called Something's got to give.

But because of her drank and drugs abuse Marilyn was mostly to late or not at her work so the studio started to get enough of Marilyn's behaviour.

And when Marilyn did appear on JFK's birthday party the studio decided to fire Marilyn.

That was a serious shock for Marilyn and on August 5 1962 Marilyn Monroe was found death in her bedroom.

The cause of death was an overdose of sleepingpills.

Marilyn monroe was 36 years old.
